“On the Path of Cold War Memories”
Come along for a very special workshop. We will explore the German capital, but in a historic light. This workshop will bring to back to when there were two Germanies and two Berlins.
Sven, the workshop leader, grew up during those times. He will take you to places you wouldn’t normally explore as a tourist in Berlin. Instead you will get a feeling—and photograph under Sven’s knowledgeable guidance—how it was when East and West stood against each other and Berlin was the epicentre. This is a very personal photo workshop on the path of Cold War memories, 35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Sven was born in East Germany. He was 4 years old when his parents were imprisoned by the Stasi. In the 70s, his family was ransomed by the West German government of Willy Brandt and he grew up in Hamburg. He documented the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and reunification in 1990 with his camera for the British news agency Reuters, so this workshop will not be a tourist tour of Berlin, but a tour with a very personal touch and historical anecdotes from a very intense period.
At the end of the one week long workshop you will bring back home unforgettable photos.
Practical information:
The photo workshop is held in Berlin. It starts up on Sunday afternoon on May 12th. The workshop ends with a dinner on Friday May 17th. Sven will be out there guiding and photograph with the participants every day.
